Geraint graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1994 with a BSc in Food Manufacture, and from the University of Derby in 2006 with an MSc in Environmental Health. He also holds a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and post graduate certificate in Environmental Noise Measurement.
Geraint used his first degree to work for a variety of Food Companies in the 1990’s, including McVIties’, Associated British Foods and the Cranswick Group before going to work as a consultant at the Food Processing Center at the University of Nebraska in the USA. He then went on to manage the manufacturing section of the Bioprocessing Development Facility at the University of Nebraska, where he helped scale up the heptavalent Botulinum vaccine for the US Department of Defence.
Since graduating in Environmental Health he has worked in enforcement for North Lincolnshire Council, Hartlepool Borough Council and South Taranaki District Council in a variety of Health and Safety, Food Safety and Pollution roles and as a Lecturer at Teesside University in Food and Health and Safety. Before coming to Southall’s, he most recently worked as a Food and Health and Safety Auditor for a German supermarket.
Having worked in Europe, the USA, China and New Zealand, Geraint has now put down roots in Sherwood Forest, where he spends his weekends having Nerf battles with his daughter and step son, acting as Taxi Driver for teenage step daughter, and walking East Midlands most witless Labrador with his Fiancée, often in the pursuit of real Ales and crisps.
