Health and Safety Audits

Health and safety legislation requires all employers to provide a healthy and safe workplace for employees at all times. Health and safety audits are the best way to establish whether you are meeting health and safety requirements and if more needs to be done to ensure that the workplace is safe.

Periodic health and safety audits are an effective way of monitoring and observing the overall safety performance of the business. As well as checking the effectiveness of any previous health and safety training, and whether any more is needed.

The frequency of a health and safety audit can vary, however typically we audit our clients on a 6 monthly basis to ensure continued compliance with all regulations and legislations.

A health and safety audit varies from business to business but will usually assess and evaluate the following standards:

  • COSHH/Asbestos
  • Risk Policy & Procedures
  • Welfare Facilities
  • Machinery & Work Equipment
  • Workplace transport
  • Display Screen Equipment
  • Accident Reporting
  • Refuse/Pest Control
  • Noise at Work
  • First Aid
  • Manual Handling
  • Stress and working patterns
  • Contractor Control
  • Electrical/Water/Gas
  • Slips, Trips and Falls
  • Safety Training/Information
  • Personal Protective Equipment

Once a health and safety audit has been completed a report will be produced which will make recommendations, where necessary, to meet legal requirements or best practice standards. The length of an audit can vary depending on the size and complexity of processes within the business.
