Andy moved to the Midlands in 1996 to study at University. After graduating Andy started his career at the Environment Agency before moving to local government where he practised as an Environmental Health Officer. With over 15 years enforcement experience using waste, water, statutory nuisance, pollution prevention and control, food and health and safety legislation, Andy is an all-rounder bringing a wide portfolio of regulatory experience to the Southalls team.
Whilst at Birmingham City Council Andy specialised in pollution prevention, food hygiene, food safety and health and safety leading many investigations and providing evidence in a wide variety of legal proceedings. Andy also worked in a specialist health and safety team investigating dangerous occurrences and accidents in the workplace including a complex structural collapse, amputations, workplace transport and fall from height incidents. Andy has worked with two major high street retailers in an advisory role providing them with assurance on their safety management systems and with independent audits to help them improve health and safety compliance within retail, leisure, warehouse and distribution premises.
Andy has an Environmental Health MSc from the University of Birmingham, a Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control and is a member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. Having spent many years as an enforcement officer Andy has moved to the Southall team bringing with him experience, knowledge and a friendly approach to help our clients trade safely.
On a personal level and with a love of the ‘Good Life’, Andy spends his weekends with his family at his allotment and enjoys camping holidays (although best if it’s not raining!).
