Jacob is a qualified Environmental Health Officer with over 10 years enforcement experience in health and safety and food safety. He is also a qualified asbestos surveyor.
Having qualified with a BSc (HONS) degree in Environmental Health from Leeds Metropolitan University Jacob has worked for Chichester District, Solihull and Birmingham City Council gaining experience in a variety of industries. He is an active graduate member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
During his time as a health and safety inspector Jacob investigated several fatal workplace accidents and other serious workplace incidents including amputations, falls from height and accidents including workplace transport. Investigating such serious accidents has given him great experience in understanding root causes and interrogating safety management systems. Providing evidence to both HM Coroners court and the criminal courts has given him confidence in his knowledge of the law. Jacob has also formed working partnerships with major high street retailers giving a great insight into commercial needs as well as regulatory responsibility. Since working with Southalls Jacob has particularly enjoyed working with the metal working industry.
Jacob enjoys real ale, single malt whisky and complaining about its effect on his waist size. Jacob also plays guitar and has a slightly obsessive interest in Star Wars.
